Visitation 1-9 p.m. Monday at Peterson Funeral Home with family present from 6:30-8 p.m. Burial 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Admire Cemetery. Memorials to Ducks Unlimited and The First United Church of Christ.

Marlin Carol Seely, Newton
1937 - 2010

Marlin Carol Seely died in his home on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010. He was 72.

The son of Ralph B. and Zennie C. Seyler Seely, he was born Dec. 5, 1937, at Vassar. He married M. Darlene Wilson. She died Sept. 8, 1973. He married Betty Louise Engelland Maris in Newton on Oct. 11, 1978. She survives of the home.

Mr. Seely retired from the Santa Fe Railway after working as a train dispatcher for 37 years. He was a life sponsor for Ducks Unlimited and a member of the Sons of the American Legion.

He is also survived by his sons, Michael S. Seely of Emporia, Curtis D. Maris of St. Charles, Mo., and Glen A. Maris of Newton; a daughter Suzanne L. Unruh of Richmond, Texas; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Lyle and Don Seely, and sister, Bonna Jean Peterson, died earlier.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at The First United Church of Christ in Newton. Burial will be at Admire Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The family will meet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Peterson Funeral Home in Newton.

Memorials have been set up for Ducks Unlimited and The First United Church of Christ.
