1955 - 2008

Mary Violet Seely, 55, of Sterling, died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 7, at the Morgan Church of the Nazarene in Fort Morgan. Services will conclude at the church.

Mrs. Seely was born Sept. 30, 1955, to Jerry and Betty (Orcutt) McGilvray in Wichita, Kan.

She married Allen L. Seely on Oct. 7, 1978, in Cripple Creek. She moved to Morgan County in the late 1980s from Morrison but had spent the last three years living in Sterling.

Mrs. Seely was active in 4-H at both the county and state levels in the shooting events and knew kids all over the state from these events. She was also a member of the Prairie Lion’s Club and had been superintendent of the State Fair. Mary enjoyed fishing, camping, Celtic events, horses.

Mrs. Seely is survived by her husband, Al of Sterling; two sons, Jerald Seely of Norfolk, Va., and Wade Seely of Thornton; one brother, Mike McGilvray of Hermitage, Mo.; one sister, Jerrilynn Reeves of Wabolo, Mo.; and one grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name in care of the Heer Mortuary in Brush.

Heer Mortuary and Crematory handled the cremation arrangements.
