Mildred R. Seely


Mildred R. Seely, 81, of Decatur went home to be with her Lord, surrounded by her family and close friends at 7:42 p.m. Thursday (November 17, 2011) at the Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Cowden with Pastor Tracy Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Myers Cemetery, Herrick. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mildred was born May 16, 1930 in Herrick the daughter of Ted and Verna (Corley) Redman. She married Donald "Dean" Seely August 3, 1949 in Shelbyville. Mildred was retired from the Decatur Credit Bureau after many years of service and a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, Mike Seely and wife, Rene of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Shane, Corley, Halley, Amber and Josh; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan (Toodles) Davis of Pana and Mary (Topsy) Strain of Ramsey; brother, Leo Dean (Firp) Redman of Hamilton, MT; brother-in-law Jerry Seely and wife Vera. Also she was "Aunt Mim" to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother-in-law, the Rev. Tom Davis. Special thanks to the ER and ICU departments of Decatur Memorial Hospital, especially nurses Tonya and Davis. Also, her neighbors, Ron and Cheryl and all her caregivers. To know Mim was to love her.
