Santa Clara - Morris Ruel Seely, age 77, passed away Friday, May 18, 2007 at Dixie Regional Medical Center. He was born July 29,1929 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Ruel Hazard and Eula Jorgensen Seely.

Morris was raised on a farm and loved farm life as a boy. At age 19, he served a mission for the LDS church in Southern California. He graduated with a degree in education from BYU in 1953. That same year he married Peggy Henrie of San Diego. Morris taught 6th grade in Vista, California for 32 years. Where he and Peggy raised 6 children. Morris was an avid gardener. His garden was beautiful, and famous in the neighborhood, and thanks to the ideal Vista climate, productive year round.

Morris has been an active member of the LDS church all his life, possessing a strong and constant testimony at an early age. He pioneered the Church early morning seminary system in North San Diego County, serving as a teacher and Seminary Regional Representative for all county classes until he retired from teaching in 1987.

When Morris retired from teaching, he and Peggy moved back to Utah, eventually settling close to their sons in Santa Clara. Here Morris was a faithful temple worker, home teacher, and a devoted care giver to his wife and sweetheart.

Morris is survived by four siblings, Boyd, Dale, Helen Harvey all of Pleasant Grove and Leone Smith of Idaho. He also leaves behind a loving wife, Peggy Henrie Seely, two sons, Keith (Mary) Seely of Hurricane, David (Kristina) Seely of Santa Clara, four daughters Rebecca (Jim) Lund of Escondido, CA., Bonnie (Mark) Parkard of Carlsbad, CA., Laurie (Doug) Pickron of Temecula, CA., and Kathleen (Bill) Crookshank of Temecula, CA. Morris's influence and legacy extends on to his 27 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 22, 2007 at 2 pm at the Santa Clare Chapel on Santa Clara Drive. There will be a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Hurricane City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Heideman Mortuary.
