N. Merle Seely, 76, of 5733 West Road, McKean, died at 2:50 p.m. Monday, April 4, 1983, in Hamot Medical Center of Erie. He had formerly lived in Seneca.

Mr. Seely was born Oct. 31, 1906, in Oil City, a son of the late Charles and Ebbie Seely. He married Gertrude Proper Seely who died Oct. 26, 1976.

Mr. Seely worked for over 30 years for the Oil Well Supply Co. of Oil City and retired in 1969. He was a lifetime member of the Pulaski Club of Oil City.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jean Lathrop of McKean and Mrs. Helen Wood of Kossuth; one son, J. Leo Seely of Venus, RD 1; one sister, Mrs. Norma Seely Bearce of Ocata, Fla.; and one brother, Raymond Seely of Erie; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers died previously.

Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home and attend the funeral service there at 1 p.m. Thursday with Rev. John Cogley, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Pleasantville, officiating. Interment will be in the East Troy Cemetery.

The family said memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Foundation.
