PATRICK T. SEELY


PATRICK T. SEELY, 60, of Detroit, died Friday of a heart attack at his home.

Mr. Seely worked as a district manager for the Detroit News for 36 years until his retirement in 1990. He also owned Seely's Bar and Grill on Broadway in downtown Detroit. His parents started the restaurant and Mr. Seely took over in 1977; he ran it until last year.

"He was a fine guy. Very helping," said Wayne Seely, his brother.

Mr. Seely served in the U.S. Army Reserve, as part of the 323rd General Hospital Unit and the 506th Garrison. He was a parish council president at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He attended Sacred Heart Seminary.

He is survived by his brother.

Visitation is today from 3-9 p.m. at Verheyden Funeral Home, 16300 Mack in Grosse Pointe. A service is set for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by a 10:30 a.m. mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1800 Jay in Detroit. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in Clinton Township.
