Reginald E. Seely, 84, of Mansfield, Arkansas died Friday, September 16, 2011 in a Fort Smith hospital after a long battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn Mary Seely, and is a member of James Fork Baptist Church.

Reginald served in the U. S. Army, retiring at the age of forty-seven as Command Sergeant Major after twenty-seven years of service. He is a veteran of the Korean War and the VietNam conflict. During his time of service he earned the Meritorious Service Medal and the Bronze Star Medal with Oakleaf Cluster, as well as many other awards. Following retirement from the military Reginald spent his time learning the carpentry trade and used his new skills building furniture, doing trim work, and in major construction. He also spent many hours in community volunteer work for churches and the local food bank.

Funeral service will be at 9:00 A.M., Monday, September 19, 2011 at James Fork Baptist Church near Mansfield with interment at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith with full military honors under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.

Survivors include his wife, Florence, of the home; three daughters, Betty Seely and Patty Dalrymple and husband, Alan, all of Texas, and Teresa Moreau of Ohio; two step-daughters, Brenda Wooten and husband, Wayne, of Hartford, AR and Beverly Holbert of Mansfield; twelve grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

Viewing will be Sunday, September 18, 2011from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home where the family will visit with friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to a charity of choice or the Gideon's International.
