Walter Eugene "Newt" Seely, 95, retired pipefitter, died Thursday. Graveside service 11 a.m. Friday, Chelsea Cemetery, Chelsea. Chelsea Funeral Home, Chelsea.

Publication Graveside service for Walter Eugene “Newt” Seely will be 11 a.m., Fri., May 18, at the Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of the Chelsea Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thurs. 1-8 p.m.

Newt died Thurs., May 10, 2007, at Claremore Regional Hospital at the age of 95.

The son of George Burton and Madeline (Moore) Seely was born Jan. 26, 1912, in Dearing, KS. Newt attended Winganon school, and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II. On March 8, 1941, Newt married Norma Loving. Newt was a 50 year member of the Pipefitter’s Local Union 430, and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Chelsea.

He is survived by his wife, Norma of the home; son, Tom Seely of Claremore; brothers: Fred Seely of Big Cabin and Jim Seely of Pryor; sisters: Bettie McClary of Muskogee, Norma Jo West of Tulsa, Glendola Barnes of Tulsa, Irene Martin of Tulsa, and Edna Hartness of Noble; grandchildren, Sean and Scott Seely; and great-grandson, Roberto Seely.
