Wayne Rossman Seely, the son of Willis and Ruby Seely died at 8:55 October 2, 2002 at the Saline Evangelical Nursing Home. He was born in Oil City, PA, September 23, 1920. He is preceded in death by his wife Clara Elizabeth Seely daughter of Philip and Josephine Schiffer of Oil City, PA. Clara Seely died May 28, 1982. A brother, Arden (Bud) Seely is deceased as of April 1993. His children and sister still remain. His daughter Deborah, husband Max and their children David and Adam live in Saline. A son Wayne Philip of Pinckney and children Wayne Jr. of Pinckney and Elizabeth of Ann Arbor. A son Alan, lives in Las Vegas, NV. His sister Mary Kay (Seely) resides in Oil City, PA. Mr. Seely graduated from Oil City High School in 1939. Right out of high school he took a local banking position in Oil City. World War II began and Mr. Seely ventured off to Ypsilanti to work in the Willow Run Bomber Plant. He married Clara E. Seely (Schiffer) on November 26, 1944 in Oil City, PA. The Seely’s were owners of the Dixie Food Market from 1950 to 1955, Topper Restaurant in Ann Arbor from 1961 to 1971, and managed three restaurants from 1971 – 1978. He then started the Seely Vending Co. During this time he attended Washtenaw Community College where he attained an Associates Degree in Cooling & Refrigeration. The Seely’s were active in the Episcopal Church and the Republican Party. Memorials can be made to the Saline Evangelical Nursing Home, 440 Russell St., Saline MI 48176. Cremation has taken place with the ashes being interred next to his wife’s remains, Arborcrest Memorial Gardens, Ann Arbor.

Wayne Rossman Seely, 82, formerly of Oil City, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, in the Saline Evangelical Nursing Home in Saline, Mich. Born Sept. 23, 1920, in Oil City, he was a son of Willis and Ruby Seely. He was a 1939 graduate of Oil City High School. During World War II he was employed at the Willow Run Bomber Plant in Ypsilanti, Mich. Later he owned and operated numerous businesses. He was an active member of the Michigan Republican Party and St. Luke Episcopal Church in Ypsilanti. He also was an active member in later years at St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Ann Arbor, Mich. Mr. Seely enjoyed his association with people, Michigan football games, traveling and gardening. He was married Nov. 26, 1944, in the St. Stephen Church rectory (a R.C. church in Oil City) to the former Clara Schiffer, who died May 28, 1982. Surviving are one daughter, Deborah Balden and her husband, Max, of Saline, Mich; two sons, Wayne Philip Seely of Pinckney, Mich., and Alan Seely of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren, Wayne Seely Jr. of Pinckney, Mich., Elizabeth Seely of Ann Arbor, Mich., and David and Adam Balden of Saline, Mich.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Also surviving are a sister, Mary L. (Seely) Kay of Oil City; and three sisters-in-law, Regina Rehberg, Phylis Dziekciasz and Elsie Ghering, all of Oil City. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Seely was preceded in death by a brother, Arden Seely. Interment was held in Arborcrest Memorial Gardens, Ann Arbor, Mich. Memorials may be made to the Saline Evangelical Home, Saline, Mich., 48176.
