RUSK - Services for William J. Seely, 85, Rusk, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Rusk, with Lois Watts, Val Stephens and Nicky Don Seely officiating.
Graveside services with military rites will be at 3:30 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery near Waco.
Mr. Seely died June 12, 2006, in a Tyler hospital.
He was born April 5, 1921, in Velma, Okla., and resided in Rusk seven years. He was a member of Wedgewood Baptist Church, Fort Worth, and was a steel inspector for many years. He served in the Army in the Second Harbor, 42nd Airborne Infantry Battalion. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, crossed the Rhine River and received two Purple Hearts and one Bronze Star. He also served as constabulary in an elite group toward the end of the war.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Ruby Holt Seely; brothers, Gene Seely and Jim Seely; sisters, Nora Farmer and Angie Farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Sylverine Cleveland Seely, Rusk; sons, Tommy Seely, Fort Worth, Rickey Cleveland, Rusk, Nickey Don Cleveland, Hudson Chapel; daughters, Jane Seely Canino, Houston, Joan Martin, Benbrook, Pam Todd, Alto; brothers, W.C. Seely of Salisaw, Okla., Ben Seely of Newberry, S.C., Mickey Seely of Omaha, Dean Seely, Chandler; sister, Wanda Stevens, Lamesa; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dub Seely, Ben Seely, Dean Seely, Mickey Seely, David Seely and Noble Seely.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services for William J. Seely, age 85, of Rusk, Texas, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with Lois Watts, Val Stephens and Nicky Don Seely officiating.

Graveside services with military rites will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery near Waco under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home of Rusk, Texas.

Mr. Seely died June 12 in a Tyler hospital. He was born April 5, 1921, in Velma, Oklahoma. He was a resident of Rusk for seven years. He was a member of Wedgewood Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. Mr. Seely was a steel inspector for many years.

He enlisted in the Army in 1942 as a Private First Class and retired from the Army at the rank of Master Sergeant. He was in the Second Harbor 42nd Airborne Infantry Battalion. He fought his way through the Battle of the Bulge, crossed the Rhine River and received two Purple Hearts and one Bronze Star. He also served as a Constabulary in an elite group toward the end of the war, as well.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Holt Seely; brothers, Gene Seely and Jim Seely; and sisters, Nora Farmer and Angie Farmer.

He is survived by wife, Sylverine Cleveland Seely of Rusk, Texas; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Marilyn Seely of Fort Worth, Texas, Rickey and Marilyn Cleveland of Rusk, Texas, and Nickey Don and Joan Cleveland of Hudson Chapel, Texas; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jane Seely Canino of Houston, Texas, Joan and Jerry Martin of Benbrook, Texas, and Pam and Jerry Todd of Alto, Texas; four brothers, W.C. Seely of Salisaw, Oklahoma, Ben Seely of Newberry, South Carolina, Mickey Seely of Omaha, Texas, and Dean Seely of Chandler, Texas; one sister, Wanda Stevens of Lamesa, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dub Seely, Ben Seely, Dean Seely, Mickey Seely, David Seely and Noble Seely.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, 221 West 5th Street, Rusk, Texas 75785.
