William J. Seely

William J. Seely, 96, died at the Ipher Nursing Home, Orangeville yesterday afternoon at 1:30 pm. He has been a guest at the home for the past six months. He suffered a stroke last Thursday and since that time his condition grew steadily worse.

The deceased was born December 11, 1860 in Salem Township, but resided most of his life in Nescopeck Township. He moved to Nesopeck in 1905 and three years ago made his residence with a daughter, Mrs. G. Raymond Brown, Nescopeck R.D. 1. Mr. Seely had been a farmer by trade.

His first wife, the former Ellen Smith, died in 1895. His second wife, the former Anna Lauderman, died in 1948. He was predeceased in death by four children: Warren Augustus in 1918, Abner Neal in 1927, Roland Henry in 1948 and an infant son in 1895. He was a son of the late John Weltz Seely and Margaret Hess Raber Seely.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Briggsville and was also a member of the Building Committee which planned the Church in 1913: a charter member of the Berwick Grange and was secretary of the Nescopeck Mutual Fire Insurance Company for several years.

Surviving are four daughters: Ellnora Rememsnyder of Berwick, Martha Brow Grace Smethers of Elizabeth, NJ and Mary Rough of Nescopeck, one son Edwin of Berwick; one brother E.Floyd Seely of Berwick, twenty grandchildren and thirty-four great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held from the Kelchner Funeral Home, Berwick Wednesday afternoon at 2:00. The Rev. Frederick W. Moock Jr., Pastor of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be made in the family plot in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
