William Thomas Seely, 85, of Marysville, died unexpectedly, Saturday, December 6, 2008 at home.

He was born January 12, 1923 in Port Huron to the late Gilbert and Ruth Seely. He married Olive McClellan on May 3, 1947 in Bowling Green, Ohio. She died April 11, 1986.

Mr. Seely was a conductor with the Grand Trunk Western Railroad for 38 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He was a member of Charles Hammond American Legion Post #8, American Legion Dance Club, St. Clair County Voiture 120 40 et 8, and Elks Lodge #343. He enjoyed golfing, walking by the river, music, spending time outdoors watching the birds and squirrels, but was the happiest when surrounded by his family.

He is survived by four sons, William Seely Jr., Thomas (Cindy) Seely, Brian (Karen) Seely and Paul (Teresa) Seely; three daughters, Gayle (Richard) Welser, Janet (Thomas) Landschoot and Anita (George) Lonsberry; his longtime companion, Ann Land and her two children, Susan (Patrick) Hool and James (Dianne) VanderMale and their families; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Seely; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two grandsons, a brother, Gilbert "Bud" Seely, and two sisters, Marie Firth and Florence Henkle.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday in the Marysville Funeral Home. Steve Kopp will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
