Worcester Seely Is Killed in Crash

RUMSON – Worcester Seeley, 38, of Romaine Rd. was killed Friday night in a four-car collision on the New York Thruway while en route to Cummington, Mass., for a family reunion.

Mr. Seely, who was economic analyst for American Airlines, was alone at the time. Seven persons in the other three cars were injured in the pileup, which occurred at Ardsley, N.Y.

Police said an auto driven by Raymond Terrents of Yonkers, N.Y., hit the rear of another southbound vehicle, which went across a mail into the northbound lanes and struck two other cars. Mr. Seely’s car, which was demolished, was the second northbound car to be hit.

Lived Here 10 Years

Terrents was taken to Westchester County Jail, charged with driving while intoxicated.

Mr. Seely had been a resident here 10 years. Before joining American Airlines, he was with New York Airways. Members of his family have long been associated with Warner & Swasey, a heavy equipment firm in Cleveland, Ohio, and New York. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Warner Seeley of Cleveland.

A memorial service for him will be offered Wednesday at 8 p.m. by Rev. Dr. Charles S. Webster in the Red Bank Presbyterian Church. Services will be held tomorrow in Village Congregational Church, Cummington, with interment in Cleveland.

Princeton Graduate

Mr. Seely was a graduate of Hawkens School and Western Reserve Academy, and the Lawrenceville School, class of 1942. He was graduated from Princeton University, where he was a member of Colonial Club. He also was graduated in 1950, from Harvard Business School after serving as a lieutenant in the Navy Corps in World War II.

Besides his parents, he is survived by four children, Bruce, Christopher, Jonathan and Laura Seely of Greenwich, Conn.; two sisters, Mrs. William B. Condit of Garden City, L.I., and Mrs. T. Lawrie Jackson of Binghamton, N.Y., and his divorced wife, Mrs. Barclay Brown of Greenwich.

Mr. Seely was a member of the Princeton University Club of New York, Sea Bright Lawn Tennis and Cricket Club, Sea Bright Beach Club, the University Glee Club of New York and Monmouth Civic Chorus.
