Chester Seelye

GREEN VALLEY – Chester Seelye, 77, R.R. 1 died at 5:45 a.m. Saturday at Leisure Hills Health Care Center, Pekin, where he had been a resident since Sept. 22.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Kuecks-Woolsey Funeral Home, Pekin, the Rev. Darwood Kesselmayer officiating. Burial will be in the Sand Prairie Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Seelye was born March 31, 1900 at Manito, a son of Charles and Minnie Seelye. He married Anna Eggena June 10, 1928, at Manito. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Helen Marie Struben, Green Valley; a sister, Mrs. Edith Dyer, Springfield and three grandchildren.

Mr. Seelye was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

He was employed as a foreman for the old Pekin Coal Mining Co. and an agricultural reporter for the Tazewell County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Board.

He also owned and operated Seelye’s Fruit Farm for 27 years.
