Doris Mitchell Seelye died peacefully on March 25, 2013 in the arms of her family and friends. Doris was born in Tacoma on October 28, 1926. Her parents Eric and Anna Mitchell, loving husband of 46 years Wesley H. Seelye, son Douglas R. Seelye, and sister Dolly Bardell preceded her in death. She is survived by son David M. Seelye, daughter Anne L. Seelye, grandchildren Steven Seelye, Joanna Seelye Christy, and Ashley D. Seelye, great-grandchildren Madison and Ryan Christy, and nieces Stephanie Cooper and Patricia Bardell Hedrick. Doris graduated from Stadium H.S. in 1944, and attended College of Puget Sound (now U.P.S.), where she met Wes Seelye. They married and moved to Mercer Island in 1954. There they lived and raised their family until 1990. Wes retired, and they moved to their new home on Hood Canal. They enjoyed fishing, boating, shrimping, and their life on the water with family and friends. After Wes passed in 1992, Doris continued living there until 2000. Then she returned to Tacoma

to be closer to her family and friends. Doris was well-known for her fun-loving, adventurous spirit. She never missed an opportunity to enjoy the company of good friends. Some of her favorite activities involved her exercise group, playing bridge, reading, and travel. Mom always tried to see the best in everyone. She lived an abundant life, loved, and was loved by so many. We will miss you. Memorial service will be held at 12 Noon Monday, April 1, 2013 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 6730 N. 17th St., Tacoma, WA 98408.
