George E. Seelye Dies at Age 72

George E. Seelye, 72, died Sunday night in the Montana Soldiers Home in Columbia Falls, where he had been a resident for the past 18 months.

Mr. Seelye was born Sept. 24, 1888, in Forestburg, S.D., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Seelye. He had been a farmer in the Dakota area living at Tioga and Williston, N.W. He lived in Seattle, Wash., for two years before coming to Kalispell in 1944.

Since coming to Kalispell, he had been employed by the Glacier National Park Service and also by the City of Kalispell. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I. He was a member of the American Legion and the Central Bible Church of Kalispell.

He is survived by his wife, May, of the Soldiers Home in Columbia Falls; four sons, Allard of Kalispell, Dale of Kila, Don of Laurel, and Jack of Evergreen, and 12 grandchildren. The body is at the Johnson Funeral Home where service arrangements will be announced at a later time.

Funeral services for George E. Seelye will be conducted in the Johnson Chapel Wednesday at 2 p.m. by Rev. J.K. Dove, pastor of the Central Bible Church. Following the services, the body will be taken to the Montana Soldiers Home Chapel where services will be conducted at 3:15 p.m. Interment will be in the Soldiers Cemetery at Columbia Falls. Mr. Seelye died Sunday night in the Montana Soldiers Home where he has been a resident for the past 18 months.
