Publication PEKIN - Gwendolyn June "Gwen" Seelye, 71, of Pekin passed away at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at her home.

Born Feb. 4, 1943, in Chillicothe to Arthur M. and Lois J. (Camp) Duden, she married James Virgil Seelye on June 25, 1961, in Creve Coeur. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Lori (Michael) Davis of Pekin and Rhonda (Jeff) Ries of Germantown Hills; three grandchildren, Brandon Davis, Lauren Ries and Emily Ries; and one sister, Cheryl Block of Flanagan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John Duden.

Gwen was a 1961 graduate of Pekin Community High School.

A homemaker, Gwen enjoyed reading, baking, cooking, sewing and gardening. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was a member of Bethel Memorial United Church of Christ in Creve Coeur.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Gary Salm will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be given to Pekin Boys and Girls Club, 1101 Veerman St., Pekin, IL 61554; or to the Dragon Aquatics Swim Team, in care of the funeral home, 500 N. Fourth St., Pekin, IL 61554.
