(March 30, 1949 - December 23, 2013)

Mr. Herbert C. Seelye, Jr., 64 of Cecil passed away Monday, December 23, 2013 at South Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Seelye was born March 30, 1949 to the late Herbert & Helen Thompson Seelye, Sr. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Seelye was a truck driver with the City of Adel and he attended Fellowship Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Seelye of Cecil; two sons, Matthew Seelye of Fl., and Clermon Seelye of Fl.; one daughter, Melinda Henderson of Fl.; two step sons, David Wells (Karla) of CA., and Michael Wells (Heather) of N.C.; one stepdaughter, Christina Wells; two brothers, Louis B. Seelye of Fl., and James Seelye of Fl.; one sister, Betty Bennett of Sparks; 6 grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren; nephew, Kenny Ray Merrit of Sparks. Mr. Seelye was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene Seelye and Carl Seelye; one sister, Hazel Bennett. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Purvis Funeral Home with Rev. Harris Whitman and Rev. Ike Jefferson officiating. Interment will follow at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home.
