Irene Cox Seelye, 99, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014.

She was born in Boyle County to the late Ollie and Seney Rice Cox, and was the widow of Clarence E. Seelye.

Mrs. Seelye was a nurse’s aide and was a member of the 9th and O Baptist Church in Louisville. She was very much a people person who loved to talk and visit with everyone. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, and was always dressed up and enjoyed wearing her finest clothes.

Mrs. Seelye is survived by a sister, Iona Cox Caddell and her husband, Glen, of Junction City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Milliard, Hughey, Johnny, Jimmy, Billy and Homer Cox, and a sister, Mary Ellen Cox Vernon.

Visitation will Monday, May 5, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Jeff Elieff and Donald Lear officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Vernon, John Caddell, Matthew Caddell, Dylan Caddell, Glen David Caddell, and Zach Asberry. Honorary bearers will be Kenneth Vernon, David Vernon, and Mack Caddell.
