James A. Seelye

PEKIN, - James A. Seelye, 83, one of Pekin’s oldest residents died at noon Tuesday at his home, 1313 Highland avenue. He was born in Pekin, March 4, 1852, the son of Abner and Louise Lucretia Seelye and had lived all his life here.

His marriage was to Frances Herriford at Bernadotte, Ill., May 30, 1872, the couple celebrating the 63rd anniversary of their marriage last year. Mr. Seelye worked for many years at his trade as a cooper, but in later years was employed as a flagman by the P. & P.U. railway.

He was a member of the First Baptist church, the Masons, Irin Grotto and the Eastern Stars. He is survived by his widow and the following children: Mrs. Blanch Vogel, Zion City; Mrs. Cora Court, Peoria; Harry Seelye, Peoria; Mrs. Myra Wynn, Kokomo, Ind.; Mrs. Louise Bussert, Pekin; Glen Seelye, Pekin, and Earl Seelye, Peoria. He also leaves two brothers, William, of Kearney, Neb., and John of Pekin, and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Foster, Pontiac.
