Marvel Brauer Seelye, 79, our amazing Mother and Grandmother, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012. She was born March 5, 1933 to Georg Ernst and Ann Catherine Brauer. Marvel was educated in Indiana and Ohio. She was an exceptional student and excelled in all areas of concentration. She was also the Homecoming Queen her senior year in high school. Marvel was the first female in her family to have a career outside the home and raise her children. She often said that her highest honor and achievement was that of raising her four children. Marvel has been an amazing, devoted, loving, hard working, beautiful, and kind Mother. Marvel was also a citizen of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Marvel's maternal grandparents emigrated from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to America with four young children. They were fluent in German, French, and Luxembourgish. Her paternal grandparents emigrated from Germany to America as young adults. Marvel was a 50 plus year member of John Knox Presbyterian Church in Tulsa serving in various capacities. She was an extraordinary cook, expert gardener, and thoroughly enjoyed her travels to many destinations including those to Europe. In addition to her children, her grandchildren were the light of her life. We thank God for the 80 years that Mom has been on this earth and for God placing us together in this life and after. Those left to cherish her memory are her four children, John Seelye, Rusty Seelye, Randy and Margaret Seelye, and her daughter, Sandy and (Phil) Black. Her six grandchildren, Erinne, Meghan, Adam, Brittany, Morgan, and Austin. We love our Mother and Grandmother! We will miss you very much until we all are once again reunited in Heaven! A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 27th, 2012, at 1:00 P.M., at John Knox Presbyterian Church Tulsa, Oklahoma to honor the life of Marvel Seelye. Moore's Southlawn 663-2233
