Vernon F. Seelye Vernon, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died unexpectedly in Tacoma, WA February 17th, 2015 at the age of 61. Vernon is survived by his wife Gloria Seelye of Tacoma, WA, his sons Jonathan of Cheyenne, WY and Brian of Tacoma, WA, daughter Kristin Perez of Tacoma, WA, and grandchildren Raven, Marlie, Caleb, Caitlyn, Jacob, Braeden, Lilian, Isaiah, Peyton, and Jackson. Vernon was born on August 26th, 1953 in Port Angeles, WA to Vernon Sr. and Faith Seelye. He married Gloria Ulin in 1973. Over the next five years the couple was blessed with the births of their three children. Soon after their third child was born the couple settled in Tacoma. Vern began working at University Place Refuse in April of 1978. After providing almost thirty-six years of service for the company, he retired in January of 2014. Vern was very passionate about serving God. The display of this enthusiasm was evident through the volunteer work he and his spouse Gloria dedicated themselves to. This helping hand was extended to numerous churches throughout his life. For the past three years he worshiped at Gateway Church in Tacoma, serving as Deacon. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00pm on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Gateway Church, 7310 12th Ave. East, Tacoma, WA 98404, with reception to follow. Pastor Randy Bach will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Vern's life. The family would like to thank Gateway Church for all of their support.
