Walter E. Seelye, 74, Dies At Farm Home Sunday, Nov. 23

Walter E. Seelye, 74 of Elliott, passed away Sunday morning, November 23 at his farm home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 26 in the Methodist church in Lisbon with Rev. W.A. Forred officiating. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery with the Lozier funeral home in charge. Pallbearers were: Ole Hammer, John Stroh, Maitland Babcock, Wm. Dick, Carl Stillwell and Albin Krchnavy.

Mr. Seelye was born in Mable county, Minn., Jan. 6, 1878 and came to North Dakota in March 1920, to a farm in Alleghany township where he lived until his death. He was a member until his death. He was a member of the school board for over 20 years and of the Methodist church. In February 1952 he suffered a stroke from which he never fully recovered.

He was married to Lucy Elizabeth Russell in September, 1904; in Estherville, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Mrs. A.E. Belzer (Marjie), Regent, N.Dak.; Mrs. Sam Adolfs (Blanche) of Englevale, and Walter Seelye of Fergus Falls, Minn. Mrs. Seelye passed away in 1911. In 1915 he married Lena Adolfs Bombarger. To this union were born six children: Mrs. James Potter (Luella) Elliott, Mrs. John Maack (Ida) of Foxhome, Minn., Melvin, Chester and Clifford Seelye at home and Mrs. Lyle Maack (Ethel) of Fergus Falls, Minn. Mrs. Seelye passed away Sept. 27, 1943.

He is survived by his nine children and two stepsons: Alfred and Fred Bombarger: 31 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one sister Mrs. Etta Celly of Butte, Mont., and a niece, Mrs. Mable Stillwell of Lisbon.
