SEELYE – Carroll C. Seelye, 60, of Acme, died Tuesday at home after a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 25, 1914, in Chesaning. On July 28, 1936, he married the former Alice Smith in Mariette. He was a graduate of Montrose High School and General Motors Technical Institute. He worked as an industrial engineer for General Motor’s Brunswick Division and was employed by Courter Products until 1972. He was affiliated with the Boy Scout Camp in Traverse City as a ranger and was awarded the Silver Beaver and Vigil awards and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. Mr. Seelye was a former member of the Boyne City Lions Club and the Montrose Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Traverse city. He is survived by his wife, Alice; two sons, Donald of Charlevoix and James of Vicksburg, Miss.; two daughters, Mrs. Dean (Barbara) Wesley of Macomb, Ill., and Mrs. Calvin (Elaine) Darbee of Oxford; four brothers, Thomas of Portland, Ore., Ronald of Montrose, Raymond of Saginaw and Duane (Pat) of Boyne City; three sisters, Mrs. James (Naomi) Bolin of Ann Arbor, Mrs. Charles (Elizabeth) Thompson of McBain, and Vivian Seelye of Montrose; one stepbrother, Kenneth Dustman of Springfield, Mo.; four stepsisters, Marjorie Sherwin of Tawas, Doris Storey of Pickford, Jean DeMerritt of Plymouth, and Patricia Bailey of Ann Arbor; a stepmother, Mrs. Floyd (Blance) Seelye of New Lathrup; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Boyne City, the Rev. James Varner officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Lawn Cemetery, Boyne City. Friends may call at the Stackus Funeral Home in Boyne City until 11 a.m. Saturday. Then they may call at the church until services. Memorials may be directed to the Scenic Trails Council, Traverse City, Emmanuel United Methodist Church Traverse City, United Methodist Church, Boyne City, or the American Cancer Society.
