HARVARD - Catherine I. Seelye, 86, of Harvard, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, after a short illness.

She was born July 2, 1918, in Galena, to William and Wilhelmina (Heller) Beadle. She married Nathan L. Seelye on Aug. 31, 1944, in Galena.

She was a bookkeeper for Howard Rotavator Co. for many years and later cooked for the Head Start program in Harvard. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since she arrived in Harvard in 1944.

Survivors include two sons, Keith Seelye of Harvard and Joseph (Nancy) Seelye of Cary; a daughter, Mary (Thomas) Bentley of Rockford; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Joanne Foecking of Galena; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on April 2, 1979; a daughter, Kathy Dewey; and four brothers and six sisters.

The visitation was Friday, Jan. 28, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home in Harvard. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 206 E. Front St., Harvard. The Rev. Daniel E. Peters will officiate. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
