Delbert "Del" Seelye, 73, Bismarck, died Aug. 28, 2003, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Steve Sathre officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the services.

Del was born May 20, 1930, south of Fort Rice, N.D., the son of Orville and Helen (Johnson) Seelye. He attended Fort Rice School. He worked at Burlington Northern Railroad, owned and operated his own excavating company, managed the American Legion Club, VFW Club and Moose Lodge. He married Lois Bailey on Nov. 8, 1951, at Wing.

Del served in the Marine Corps for two years. He boxed professionally for a short time, and later coached amateur boxing for 38 years. Del was a great supporter of boxing. He was a member of the American Legion Club, Amvets, Eagles Club, Moose Club and the Elks Club. He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck.

Del is survived by his wife, Lois, Bismarck; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Lyn and Diede Kapsch and Debb and Mick Scharosch, all of Bismarck; four grandchildren, Jami (Ryan) Huber, Kyle and Kaysi Kapsch and Kody Scharosch, all of Bismarck; two great-grandchildren, Tanner Tesky and Saralyn Huber, both of Bismarck; one brother, Duane Seelye, Bismarck; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Darlene and Val Wetsch, Bismarck, and Donna and Terry Kraft, Mesa, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant sister; and one infant grandson.
