Mrs. Dema Seelye Dies; Taught in Area Schools

WOLCOTT – Services for Mrs. Dema G. Seelye, 81, of Colvin Road, who died Monday at Myers Community Hospital, Sodus, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Wolcott Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rose Cemetery.

Born in LaFayette, Mrs. Seelye came to Wolcott 54 years ago. She graduated from Wolcott High School and Normal School.

She taught school for several years in the area and, in recent years, attended art classes at Cayuga County Community College.

She was a member of Wolcott Baptist Church and taught in its Sunday school.

She was a member of the Wolcott Senior Citizens Club, Wolcott Grange and Wolcott County Home Bureau.

Surviving are two sons, Judson of Indianapolis, Ind., and Gaylord of Los Angeles, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Eric Oesterle of LaFayette, Ind., and Mrs. Joyce Pasco of Danville, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Hudson of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Laura Jenkins of Wolcott and Mrs. Newton Farwell of Wolcott; two brothers, Edward of Hot Springs, Ark., and Willis Gaylord of Chicago; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Colvin-Robertson Funeral Home.

Contributions may be made to the Dema Seelye Memorial Fund at Wolcott Baptist Church or to Wolcott Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
