Dorothy Laverne Sharber Seelye, 87, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2011 at the Bowie Memorial Hospital. She was born September 13, 1923 in Denton, TX. to Jerry Dooley "Jack" Sharber and Zephia Mae "Grace" Sharber. She married Lonzo Seelye on September 14, 1941 in Oklahoma and they were happily married for 52 years. They retired to Amon Carter Lake in Bowie in 1980. Lonzo preceded her in death in 1993.
She is survived by one daughter, Sherry Seelye DeBorde of Denton and one son, Edwin Glenn Seelye of Bowie, a daughter-in-law Nancy Seelye who looked after her so faithfully; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Of her eight brothers and sisters, two survive, Barbara Ann and Patsy Jean, along with many nieces and nephews who knew her as "Aunt Dot." She was cherished by all and maintained her sunny personality and loving ways until the end. She will be missed, but she is at home in the arms of her Lord and those loved ones who have gone before.
A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 3:00 p.m.
