Duane O. Seelye, 76, Mandan, died Nov. 8, 2003, at a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Cyprian Meier officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery, following the service with military honors being provided by Mandan VFW Post No. 707 and American Legion Post 40.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, and then one hour before the service at the church.

Duane was born July 15, 1927, the son of Orville K. and Helen R. (Johnson) Seeyle. He served in the National Guard for two years. On Nov. 6, 1950, Duane married Betty Martin at Mandan, and they had three children together. They later divorced and on Nov. 1, 1983, he married Dorothy Scholl-Lanze.

He was an inspector for the Northern Pacific/Burlington Northern Railroad from September 1948 until his retirement in November 1987. Duane was a member of the AMVETS, Mandan Eagles, Mandan Moose and the Elks. Some of the things that he enjoyed doing was fishing, driving his four wheeler, the outdoors and most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Duane J. (Helen), Mandan; his daughters, Tina (Curt) Maas and Sherry (Keith) Keller, all of Mandan; his stepsons, Dana (Penni) Lanz, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Robert (Lyn) Lanz, Mandan; six grandchildren, Duane C., Stacy, James and David Seeyle, Sheena Keller and Kim Keller; two step-grandchildren, Brittany and Logan Lanz; his sisters, Darlene (Val) Wetsch, Bismarck, and Donna (Terry) Kraft, Mesa, Ariz.; and a sister-in-law, Lois Seeyle, Bismarck.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents; his former wife, Helen; a brother, Del Seeyle; and an infant sister.
