NORTH ROSE – Frank Ernest Seelye, 77, farmer and an ardent collector of Indian artifacts, died Saturday at Myers Community Hospital, Sodus.

Born in South Dakota, he moved to Rose 52 years ago. He was a member of the North Rose Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Wolcott Baptist Church, and a former member of the Archeological Society of Central New York.

In 1935, Mr. Seelye founded the North Rose firm of Seelye Ladders, which he operated until retiring in 1953.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Alda Luffman Seelye; two sons, Carson and Dorr of North Rose; a brother, Arthur of Wolcott; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Farnsworth & Son Funeral Chapel, with burial in Rose Cemetery.

Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
