George W. Seelye Jr., 81, of Waco, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at a local hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 12, at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Michael O. Patterson and Timothy Gibbs, minister, and Jarrell Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park.

Mr. Seelye was born Nov. 7, 1919, in Ennis, to George William and Elizabeth Susie Land Seelye. He graduated from Ennis High School. He married Mary H. “Tensy” Hall on June 4, 1939, in Dallas. He was a veteran of WWII In the Army, having served in the South Pacific on the island of le Shima. He retired from Texas Fireproof Storage/Allied Vanlines as a sales consultant. Mr. Seelye was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church and Downtown Kiwanis Club. He was involved in the Kiwanis Christmas Auction every year. He also was a member of Happy Shufflers 42 Club. He loved playing golf and bridge. His parents, a sister, and two brothers preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Mary H. Seelye of Waco, daughter, Peggy Sue Bravenec and husband Tom of Waco, son Stephen Hall Seelye and wife Candy of Elm Mott; grandchildren, Rynda Sue Hoover of Bedford, Melissa Rene O’Brien and husband George of Hurst, Heather Seelye of College Station and Chad and Caitlyn Seelye of Elm Mott; great-granddaughter, Tarah Hoover of Bedford; step-grandchildren, Beth Stickler and husband Todd of Plano, Tommy Bravenec and wife Beck of Rendon, Cindy Woolum and husband Todd of Plano and Cosy Dulock of Elm Mott; and step-grandchildren, Connor and Caitlyn Woolum.

Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, Bobby Roy Seelye, Michael Seelye, Joe M. Hall, Jim Hall, Richard Gay, Craig Gay, Gary Gay, Gene Gay and Gordon Gay.
