Gladys “Ruth” SEELYE – Age 83, of Montrose, died on Saturday, July 21, 2001 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2001 at the Whipple-O’Guinn Family Funeral Home, Montrose Chapel, Rev. David Collins officiating with interment at Montrose Twp. Cemetery. Family will be at the funeral home today 6-9 p.m., Tuesday 12-4 and 6-9 p.m., and on Wednesday 10:30 a.m. until time of services. A memorial service by the Montrose Chapter #351 OES will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Leukemia Foundation of Michigan, Montrose United Methodist Church or the Montrose Masonic Lodge. Ruth was born in Montrose on September 18, 1917, daughter of the late Charles and Winnie (Clark) Somers and lived in Montrose her entire life. She married Ronald Seelye on January 8, 1939 in Marlette. He preceded her in death on September 30, 1997. She was a member of the Montrose United Methodist Church and the Montrose Chapter #351, Order of the Eastern Star. Ruth was the Avon representative for Montrose for over 30 years. Surviving are a daughter and 2 sons, Roberta and husband Harry Bigelow of Swartz Creek, Roderick Seelye of Chesaning, Randall Seelye of Saginaw; 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers and a sister, John Somers, Clark Somers and Ella Parks.
