HEIDI M. SEELYE

Heidi M. Seelye, 89, died at her home in Weaverville on April 1, 2009, of a massive heart attack, according to the autopsy. Her faithful dog of 11 years, Colonel Pizzaz, was at her side. Born Feb. 22, 1920, in upstate New York to a Caucasian mother and a Mohawk father, she found her home in Rio Dell, Calif., before moving to Weaverville. She worked as a nurse many years of her life, a truck driver, and was the mother of four children.

She is survived by three daughters, Nibiki Woichom, Champaign, Ill.; Rosalie Beth Seelye Martin, Hydesville, Calif.; Christine Dee Seelye, Brownsville, Calif.; and a son, Christopher Joseph Seelye, Sheridan, Mont.; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Seelye bequeathed her savings to Trinity Hospital in Weaverville, and her home to Mike Scartina. She loved the beauty of the Trinity Alps and all the critters that went to visit her for a morsel. The family would like to thank those of you who cared for or took an interest in her life. There was no service or memorial at her request. “Mother” is at peace.
