PEKIN -- Howard Eugene Seelye, 59, of 1901 American St. died at 5:44 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 1995, in the emergency room at Pekin Hospital.

Born April 5, 1936, in Pekin to Carl William and Berniece L. Taylor Seelye, he married Janice C. Gouran on May 19, 1956, in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Robert C. of Manito, Howard W. of Canton and Gary D. of Robinson; five grandchildren; two brothers, Carl E. of Pekin and Wayne E. of Thayer, Mo.; and one sister, Mrs. Bill (Peggy) Null of Pekin. He was preceded in death by one son, Marty E. Seelye, in 1983, and one sister.

An operating engineer, he worked for C.F. Helmig Construction Co. from 1965 until he retired in 1980. He was a member of Operating Engineers Union Local 649 in Peoria.

He was a member of South Pekin General Baptist Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Dowice Ashley will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Spring Lake Cemetery in rural Manito.
