MINONK - James Glen Seelye, 85, of Pekin, father of a Minonk woman, died at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday (May 29, 2002) in Peoria.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. John M. Duden Jr., his grandson, will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Pekin. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Sand Ridge Community Church, 26163 East County Road 2500N, Topeka, IL 61567.

Area survivors include one daughter, Gayle S. (John) Duden Sr., Minonk.

PEKIN - James Glen Seelye, 85, of 1100 Edgewater Drive died at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Sharon Pines Health Care Center in Peoria.

Born Aug. 17, 1916, in Pekin to Glen Bryan and Mary Neavear Seelye, he married Louise B. McQuown on Aug. 21, 1937, in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, James (and Gwendolyn) of Pekin; one daughter, Gayle (and John Sr.) Duden of Minonk; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Glen of Pekin.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

A World War II Marine Corps veteran, he was a life member and past commandant of Tobin-Nanninga Detachment 85 of the Marine Corps League in Pekin and served as its manager for four years.

He had been manager of the Martin-Marietta Sand and Gravel Pit in Pekin, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of Pekin Masonic Lodge 29, AF&AM, where he was past master; Mohammed Temple, Shrine, in Peoria; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria; Knights of Pythias, Lafayette Lodge 216, where he was past chancellor commander; Royal Arch Masons, Chapter 25, where he was past high priest and served as treasurer from 1971 to 1997; Irin Grotto; Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1271; Pekin Consistory; and Peoria Commandery No. 3.

He also was a member of Spring Lake Sportsman's Club in Manito and the National Rifle Association.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be 11/2 hours before. The Rev. John Duden Jr., his grandson, will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by the Marine Corps.
