Publication Janice Celia Seelye, 68, of 1901 American St., passed away at 3:18 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at her home.

Born May 3, 1940, in Peoria to Robert Joseph and Eva Catherine Haanaapa Gouran, she married Howard Eugene Seelye on May 19, 1956, in Pekin. He died July 30, 1995, in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Marty E. Seelye in 1983; two brothers, William Gouran and Robert Gouran; and two sisters, Lois Krohe and Mary Draksler.

Surviving are three sons, Robert C. (Melinda) Seelye of Sparland, Howard W. Seelye of Vienna, and Gary D. Seelye of Pekin; five grandchildren, Artie Seelye, Robert Seelye Jr., Sabrina Seelye and Marty Seelye, all of Pekin, and Martin Cole Seelye of Sparland; and one sister, Donna Bechard of Beardstown.

A homemaker, Janice enjoyed doing embroidery and collecting watermelon memorabilia.

She was a member of Community Fellowship of South Pekin.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before the funeral. The Rev. Dowice Ashley will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Lake Cemetery in rural Manito.
