Kathleen (Kate) Seelye, 87, of Sebring, died June 3, 2010. At her request, there will be no viewing or services. Final interment will be at a later date.

She was born in Seattle, Wash. Starting their family in Seattle, Kate and Bob lived in the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Montana, and Oregon) for many years. In their later years they moved to New England where they started a business, then to Savannah, Ga., and finally to Sebring.

Survivors include her husband, Bob, her two sons, Paul Seelye and Evan Seelye, and two grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring.

KATHLEEN (KATE) SEELYE

Kathleen (Kate) Seelye, age 87, passed away June 3, 2010. At Kate’s request, there will be no viewing or services. Final interment will be at a later date.

Kathleen Howard was born in Seattle, Washington on July 19, 1922 to John and Bessie Howard. She was the second of two children. Kate grew up in Seattle and met her future husband, Robert (Bob) Seelye, there in 1941, they were married in October 1945 after Bob returned from overseas World War II Service. Starting their family in Seattle, Kate and Bob lived in the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Montana, and Oregon) for many years. In their later years they moved to New England where they started a business, then to Savannah, Georgia (to get warm!) and finally to Sebring.

Kate was a devoted mother, a talented seamstress, a good cook, and after the children were grown learned the art of working with stained glass and helped Bob run the family business. A skier before and after the war, she later took up golf and played until time and infirmities took their toll.

Kate was predeceased by her parents and her brother. She is survived by her husband, Bob, her two sons, Paul Seelye, and Evan Seelye, and two grandchildren.
