Leo P. Seelye, Nashua Brockton, Mass., police detective, Navy veteran

Leo P. Seelye, 85, of Nashua, died unexpectedly Friday, March 30, 2007, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua.

Mr. Seelye was born and raised in Brockton, Mass., one of nine children of the late F. Stillman and Mary A. (Pendergrass) Seelye. For the past three years, Mr. Seelye had been a resident of Nashua Crossing and previously lived in Bridgewater, Mass., and Brockton.

He was the widower of Mary E. (McKenney) Seelye.

Mr. Seelye retired as a supervisor at New England Telephone after many years. Previously he had been a detective for the Brockton Police Department specializing in criminal photography.

Mr. Seelye enjoyed photography and woodworking.

He served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

Mr. Seelye was a graduate of Brockton High School.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Jean Doulette and all his brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Paul E. and Judy Seelye of Amherst; a son-in-law, Robert Doulette; six grandchildren, Michael Seelye, Jennifer Nickerson, Amy Cassidy, Robert Doulette, Lisa MacDougal and Kristen Madeira; and eight great-grandchildren.

The Conley Funeral Home in Brockton, Mass., is in charge of arrangements.
