Lura "Marion" Seelye


NORTHFIELD - Mrs. Lura "Marion" (Wedge) Seelye, 95, of Moosehorn Rd., died Friday evening at Litchfield Woods Health Care Center in Torrington. She was the widow of Frederick H. Seelye.

Mrs. Seelye was born October 16, 1906 in Thomaston, daughter of the later John and Mary (Hart) Wedge. She was a graduate of Thomaston High School, class of 1923. She was retired from the Connecticut Junior Republic where she had worked as a secretary. She had also been employed as a nurse's aide, working at Rose Haven LTD in Litchfield and private duty.

She was a fifty-year member of the Beacon Grange in Northfield and a member of the Northfield Community Church. She enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, bird watching and spending time with her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter, Frances Filipelli of Prospect, nine grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, John F. Seelye and two daughters, Doris M. Simonvelli and Virginia L. Seelye.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 6 at 11 a.m. at the Northfield Congregational Church with Rev. Jonathan B. Haulenbeek officiating. Burial will be private in Northfield Cemetery, Northfield. Arrangements by the Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Rd., Litchfield, CT.
