Lyle G. Seelye

Lyle G. Seelye, 78, died last Thursday at the Blossburg State Hospital.

A respected, lifetime resident of Osceola, he was born at Lindley, Sept. 25, 1872, a member of Odd Fellows Lodge and the Osceola Presbyterian church. A retired telegraph operator who made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Archie Baker for a number of years, Mr. Seelye had been in failing health for several months.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Baker, of Osceola; a son, Hugh Seelye, of Sunbury; four grandchildren, Lyle Baker, of Shippensburg; Betty Lou Baker, of Osceola; Ned and Eleanor Seelye, of Sunbury.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Elkland, with burial in the Woodlawn cemetery, Elmira.

Lyle G. Seelye, agent for the Erie Railroad at Mansfield for the past 22 years, has resigned.

Mr. Seelye started work as telegraph operator in December, 1892, his first work being at Mitchell Creek, at the time the Untied States Pipe Line was laid. The following April he was appointed agent at Jackson Summit. In December, 1903, he was transferred to Lawrenceville and served there until November 1, 1914, when he was transferred to Union, N.Y. (now Endicott). April 21, 1915 he was appointed agent at Mansfield.
