Mary V. SEELYE

(August 3, 1930 - September 24, 2011)

MARY V. SEELYE, daughter of Paul Victor and Anna Louise McMann Kleiner, was born August 3, 1930, in Lebanon, Missouri and departed this life September 24, 2011, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years.

Mary made a profession faith in Christ at a young age and at the time of her passing had been a longtime member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church.

Mary attended Lebanon Public Schools and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1948. While in high school, she was a cheerleader and known as “Jo” by the other girls on the squad. Through the years she treasured her many friends.

Mary worked in the hospital at Ft. Leonard Wood, where she met her husband, Robert Alan Seelye. They were united in marriage on June 28, 1953. Mary quickly became an Army career wife, traveling with her husband to France, the Philippines and Korea, as well as the states. Prior to Robert’s passing in 1997, they had celebrated forty-four wonderful years together.

Mary was a wonderful homemaker and devoted to raising her children. She enjoyed nothing more than family gatherings surrounded by her children and grandchild, sharing laughter and making memories.

She is survived by one son, Paul Seelye of Springfield, MO; one daughter, Roseann Owen of Lebanon, MO; one granddaughter, Naida Fick and her husband Wayne of Jefferson City, MO; other relatives and many friends.

Mary was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Paul Victor Kleiner.

Mary was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. Those who had the pleasure of knowing her through the years will cherish the moments they shared together. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
