WAYZATA, Minn. — Richard C. Seelye, age 79, of Wayzata and formerly New Hope, Minn., died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008.

He is survived by daughters, Karen (Steve) Cardwell, Kris (Keith) Johnson and Mary Jane Seelye (Michael Culhane); grandchildren, Andrew and Anthony Cardwell, Patrick, Courtney, Samantha and Megan Johnson; stepgrandchildren, Danna and Daniel Culhane.

He was preceded in death by wife, Mary Courtney Seelye; and parents, Harry Clark and Olga Regina Seelye.

Richard was the department head of Methodist Hospital Laboratory for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He was instrumental in organizing and developing the Methodist Movers Retiree Program in 1990. He dedicated 18 years of volunteer service to the Methodist Movers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Robbinsdale United Church of Christ, 4200 Lake Road Avenue. Private interment Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today at Gearty-Delmore Plymouth Chapel, 37th Ave North and Vicksburg Lane, and one hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Park Nicollet Methodist Foundation Parkinson’s or cancer research program.
