Russell J. Seelye, 54, a retired U.S. Navy torpedoman’s mate, died Saturday in Philadelphia Naval Hospital after a short illness.

Mr. Seelye, of 42 Bunting Lane, Aston, was born in Cass Lake, Minn, but lived since 1949 at his present address.

Since his 1954 retirement from the Navy, he was a member of the Philadelphia Fleet Reserve. He also was a member of American Legion Post 926 and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict.

He was employed by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board at the state store in Village Green Shopping Center, Aston.

He is survived by his widow, the former M. Jean Harrison: three sisters, Mrs. Gladys Van Epps and Mrs. Clara Monroe, both of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Nina McKennett of Cass lake; and a brother, Lon Seelye of Detroit Lakes, Minn.

Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Fort Meyer, Va. Calling hours will be after 7 p.m. Wednesday at White Luttrell Funeral Home, 240 Concord Road, Aston.
