THELMA I. SEELYE HOMEMAKER

Thelma I. Eastman Seelye, 77, of 433 Flower Ave. E., died at 6:42 p.m. Wednesday at her home after a short illness.

Mrs. Seelye was a homemaker and an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed square dancing.

Born Jan. 12, 1922, in Ellisburg, she was a daughter of C. Alfred and Nina Allard Eastman.

She graduated in 1939 from Union Academy of Belleville and in 1940 from the Watertown School of Commerce.

She married Douglas V. Seelye on March 29, 1942, at Asbury Methodist Church with the Rev. George H. McClung officiating. The couple lived in Watertown for most of their married lives. Since retiring, they had spent winters in Phoenix, Ariz.

Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Carolyn Swartout, Phoenix, Ariz., and Yvonne Roshia, Watertown; a son, David, Rochester; five sisters, Myrtle Barrett, Norwich, Flora Sheldon, Belleville, Lucia Bliss, Pierrepont Manor, Lois Harber, Clearwater, Fla., and Frances Vanderbeck, Closter, N.J.; six grandchildren, three great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Five brothers, Frank, Harley, Floyd, Earl and Keith Eastman, and a sister, Clara Eastman, died before her.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, with the Rev. William Palmer, pastor of Belleville United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
