Jack Seelye Passes Away

William Jackson (Jack) Seelye passed away in a local hospital January 27 following a long illness. Born in Oklahoma on February 4, 1900, the longtime Hearne resident was 66 years, 11 months and 23 days of age at death. He was an employee of Gifford-Hill Gravel Company until his illness.

Funeral services were held from the chapel of Heartfield Funeral Home on Saturday, January 28, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. James Seirratt, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment was in Norwood Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Johnny Mahan, Jim Jones, George Bland, O.B. Fowler, Jesse Mitchell and Jess Johnson. All fellow employees of Gifford-Hill were listed as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Seelye is survived by his widow of Hearne, one son, William Jackson Seelye Jr. of Arlington; three daughters, Mrs. Russell Squires of Irving, Mrs. James Adams and Mrs. Ladd Purl of Hearne; 11 grandchildren, one brother, Joe Seelye, of Tulsa, Okla.; and three sisters, Mrs. Zeak Duncan and Mrs. Ila Bender of Tulsa, Okla. and Mrs. Frankie Hanson of Conroe.
