CHARLES SEELEY

"The Sixteenth Cavalry, numbered the 161st of the Pennsylvania line, and one of the most renowned cavalry regiments in the service of the United States in the war of the Rebellion, was raised in the fall of 1862, and composed of men from twenty counties of the State of Pennsylvania. The rendezvous was first established at Camp Simmons, near Harrisburg, but was afterwards removed to Camp McClellan, where the regimental organization was completed about the middle of November (1862)."
