SEELEY, CHARLES – Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the graveside in Woody Cemetery for Charles Seeley, 84, of Glennville, who died Oct. 22, 1961, in a Bakersfield hospital. Rev. Charles H. Culbreath of the Presbyterian Church of the Master, North Bakersfield, will officiate. Interment will follow at the family plot in Woody Cemetery. Mr. Seeley was born Aug. 25, 1877, in London, Ky. He had lived in Kern County since 1888. His first job was in the Kern oilfields. He then moved to Ventura County and worked as a lima bean farmer, eventually buying a farm in that county. In 1907, he came to Woody, homesteaded, and entered the cattle business. He was a cattle rancher for 45 years and was active in the Cattlemen’s Association of California until his recent retirement. Survivors include his widow, Virginia G. Seeley of Glennville, two daughters, Pearl Olds of Glennville, and Della Boynton of Bakersfield; three sons, Henry of Kernville, Ernest of Poso and Reed of Fresno; a sister, Rose Maddux of Huntington Beach; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be George Moore, John Moore, Sam Crawford, Buck Newman, Frank Maltby, and Joe Weringer. The Mish Funeral Home of North Bakersfield is in charge of arrangements.
