Mark and Luella SEELEY

GOLDEN WEDDING OF THE MARK SEELYS
At their home, No. 9 Porter avenue, San Jose, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Seely celebrated their golden wedding anniversary December 8, with numerous relatives and friends from Minnesota to San Diego as their guests.

The bride, who looked regal in a gown of dove-colored silk, was the “life” of the occasion. The bridegroom still has the clear eye of the soldier of the civil war, when he marked the trail of the redskin or watched the movements of the enemy. Three generations were gathered at the homecoming. With the announcement of the fact that the Grim Reaper had never visited the family, thankfulness was reverently expressed.

Decorations of gold color throughout the house gave a pleasing effect. At noon 23 guests gathered at the festive board and partook of a bountiful repast, including two huge cakes from the bride and bridegroom. The service was completed and in perfect order. Many presents, among which was a gold-headed cane to the bridegroom and an electric lamp to the bride, were valued because of the love which accompanied them.

With praise in poetry from absent friends and music by those present, the hours quickly sped and the dinner guests departed, leaving the best of wishes for the host and hostess.

A perfect day was rounded out by a reception from 8 o’clock to 10 o’clock, when 100 guests were entertained, those so honored being the neighbors and the ladies of the W.C.T.U.

The dinner guests were Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Smith, San Jose; Mr. and Mrs. M.B. Hutchinson, Whittier; Mr. and Mrs. P.V. Edwards, Morgan Hill; Miss Clark, San Jose; Miss Clara Smith, Mountain View; Mrs. H. Lilly, San Jose; Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Kleemeyer, San Jose; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kleemeyer, San Francisco; Mrs. Paddock and sons, Campbell; Dr. Nellio Perry, San Diego; Mr. and Mrs. L.O. Greene, Los Gatos; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Rix and family, Campbell; W.A. Seely (son), Spring Valley, Minn; Mr. and Mrs. Mark Seely, San Jose.

Mr. and Mrs. Mark Seely were held in marked esteem at their old home in Minnesota, and their youthful, genial and lovable nature reaming with them on this side of the Rockies. It was gratifying to find their love so sincerely reciprocated on this memorable occasion.
