Miss Joyce Kathryn Tucker Becomes Bride of Barney Iral Seely Sunday

Miss Joyce Kathryn Tucker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Tucker of Mexia, became the bride of Barney Iral Seely, son of Mr. and Mrs. B.L. Seely of Teague, in a ceremony held Sunday, December 20, at 4:00 p.m. in the First Baptist church, Mexia.

Dr. E.S. Hucherson performed the double-ring ceremony before an altar decorated with banks of greenery flanked with baskets of white chrysanthemums.

Miss Sylvia Floyd of Plano, was at the organ to play the traditional wedding music and accompany Miss Lucretia Seely, sister of the bridegroom, who sang “One Alone” and “The Lord’s Prayer”.

Miss Marian Sue McMurray of Taylor, was maid of honor for the occasion. She wore a two piece dress of pink faille with pink accessories and carried a bouquet of pink and white camellias.

Sammy Wilcox of Liberty served as best man to the bridegroom and ushers were Edwin Glenn McAdams, cousin of the bride, Tex Richards of Taylor, Durwood Cochrum and Bobby Mulcahy of Teague.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a two piece dress of ribboned faille. Her headdress was a white velvet sequin trimmed hat with tiny veil. She carried a white Bible topped with a white orchid and her jewelry was a gold watch, worn on a chain, given to the bride by her grandmother.

Mrs. Tucker, mother of the bride, wore a navy blue suit with white and navy accessories. Her corsage was of white carnations.

Mrs. Seely, mother of the bridegroom, chose a beige faille suite with brown accessories and a corsage of bronze mums.

A reception was held at the home of the Bride’s parents immediately following the wedding.

The bride’s table was laid with a white imported linen cutwork cloth and centered with an elaborate arrangement of white stock intermingled with white carnations and greenery. White tapers completed the table décor.

Miss Sylvia Floyd presided at the three tiered wedding cake which was decorated with sugar bells and pink roses. Miss Marian Sue McMurray served the punch. Others in the houseparty were Miss Lucretia Seely, Miss Sandra Tucker, Miss Patsy McAdams, Mrs. L.A. McAdams and Mrs. Rudolph Tucker. Mrs. Jan Tucker was in charge of the Bride’s book.

For a wedding trip Mrs. Seely wore a navy wool knit suit with red and white accessories and a white orchid corsage.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Teague High school and attended Henderson County Junior college at Athens.

The bride is a graduate of Teague High school and is a Junior at Baylor University.

The couple will be at home at 1711 South 10th St in Waco, following the wedding trip.

Out of town guests present for the wedding included Mr. and Mrs. Lester Floyd of Plano, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Tucker of Houston, and Miss Mary Ann Coit of Plano.
